Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that straightens your teeth with a series of clear, medical grade plastic aligners instead of metal brackets and wire. Invisalign is suitable for teenagers and adults. In fact, this nearly invisible treatment is popular with adults who want to correct their smile but don’t want a mouth full of metal.
Your treatment consists of a series of plastic aligners that are custom-made to fit your teeth and put gentle pressure on them to guide them to new corrected positions. It’s used to correct:
First, Dr. Saliba or Dr. Moukarim will check to make sure your alignment issue will respond to Invisalign, as some alignment issues may be better corrected with traditional braces. They will then take pictures and molds of your teeth to plan the migration of your teeth and to create your series of custom aligners.
Once your aligners are created, you will wear them for two weeks before changing them out for the next set. For the first eight weeks of treatment, you’ll stop into Dental Illusions for a quick bi-weekly appointment so that Dr. Saliba or Dr. Moukarim can check that your teeth are responding as expected and get your next set of aligners. Once they’re satisfied that your treatment is going as planned, you’ll get three sets of aligners that you’ll change at home and have checkups every six weeks for the next 12 to 18 months until your treatment is complete.
There are many benefits to choosing Invisalign. First, the aligners are nearly invisible while you wear them, so no one will know that you’re having orthodontic treatment unless you choose to tell them.
You can also remove your aligners for an hour or two a day for such activities as eating, drinking, brushing or flossing. This means that you don’t have to give up any favorite foods and that taking care of your teeth is just as easy as before you started treatment. You might even find that as your teeth become straighter that it’s actually easier to brush and floss.
